Mogul has announced they will join forces with one of Europe’s most recognisable esports brands, Alliance, to support upcoming esports stars in Europe.

The landmark partnership will see Alliance establish their own annual season-format tournament series and membership offer on Mogul’s market-leading platform to support grassroots to semi-pro esports players.

While more details of the tournament and membership will be unveiled in the coming weeks, Alliance members can expect priority access into this tournament series with reserves seats ahead of public access, swag from both Mogul and Alliance, large prize pools every season, and could win the opportunity to train with the team as a part of their bootcamp at Alliance HQ in Sweden – all expenses paid. The memberships and tournaments will be open to esports players of all levels who can play in a nurturing environment and even kickstart earning an income on their path to professional esports.

Jamie Skella, Mogul’s Chief Strategy and Commercial Officer, looks forward to collaborating with a team admired around the world.

Jonathan ‘Loda’ Berg, Alliance’s Chief Executive Officer, says the team are excited as this will be the first time an esports team will be able to run a tournament series under their own brand with over US$50,000 in cash and prizes on the line.

The Ministry of Development in Greece has introduced a new proposal, which raises the costs for online gambling operations.

Permits for iGaming operations will cost €3 million (sports betting) or €2 million (online casino and poker). Greece demands online gambling licensees to pay a 35% tax on their gross gaming revenue.

Greece is soon to feature a casino resort. Two operators have already bid for the construction and operation of the facility.

Veikkaus Appoints New Supervisory Board Members

Veikkaus, the gambling monopoly in Finland, has appointed new supervisory board members to amplify and raise the responsible gambling standards.

There are a total of 28 members on the board. 13 members are representatives of various political parties and 13 representatives of Veikkaus’ stakeholders. There are two representatives from Veikkaus’ employees. The board would be led by chair Jukka Gustafsson and vice-chair Jani Mäkelä.

The first six months of 2019 have not been great for the state-run Finnish Gambling monopoly Veikkaus. In its financial report, Veikkaus has posted a 6% decline in overall turnover during the first six months of 2019.
